Project Description:

The scope of this project included demolition and repaving of 155,000 square feet the existing parking lot asphalt at buildings 500 & 510 including 8th Ave that runs through the heart of the volunteer training site at the Smyrna Army National Guard Base.   Demolition included milling the existing parking lot and 8th Ave, excavation and replacement of multiple curb and gutters, islands, and large trees.  After the site work was complete and the sub-base was compacted to proper specifications the binder and a tack coat was laid, followed by the surface topping along with striping the entire area and installing all signage.  Along with weather delays, Sherrick faced the challenges of a multiple phase project with detailed coordination with the client of securing each phased area of work with the coordination of moving vehicles and traffic control with minimum disruption to the daily activities of an active Army base.  After receiving the notice to proceed and with meticulous coordination with the base, Sherrick completed this project under budget and ahead of the anticipated schedule.
